Opening for business in a small district for decades, 'Kwong Ming Pawn Shop' is renowned for its all-round ability of identifying real jewels and treasures from fake ones at a glance. Known as Uncle Kin (Tse Kwan Ho) by the Kwans, he always treats the whole family as if they are his own, and takes especially good care of the orphaned Kwan Ling and her younger brother Kwan Chun like their housekeeper, despite having no blood relations with them. The close relationship among them changes though when things turn sour, and the three of them live separately since then. As time goes by, Ling and Chun reappear in the midst of the business and financial struggles the pawn shop is facing. The good and bad brought by their sudden reappearance, and the subsequent encounters among the three of them, remain unpredictable.
